What was your favorite TV season finale this year?
Submitted by Kristine.
HEROES.
I know, I just got done complaining that it was anti-climactic and whatnots, but after watching it again, I realized that it actually did fit.
Also once you take into credit that Tim Kring (creator of HEROES) mentioned that season one was only the beginning, it makes more sense. This was totally the set-up season. I bet season two will kick so much ass like nobody's business! I can't wait :D
ehem... I also picked HEROES because I didn't watch any other finale.
whoops.
wait, no I lie, yes I did!
And those were good as well!
American Idol and Dancing with the Stars...
although I'm beginning to like Dancing better than Idol. :P
What a way to end the season!
It's about time Peter went and blew up XD
I have mixed feelings about this episode. It was kind of anticlimactic :\
I feel like listing things:
What happened: Nathan carried Peter off into the night so they can explode in the sky.
What I wanted to happen: I wish they'd shown a bit of Peter and Nathan as they were flying/already up in the sky rather than just sticking us on the ground.
What happened: Let's all attack Sylar!
What I wanted to happen: More of Sylar being beat up by Niki XD C'mon, that would've rocked!
What happened: Peter somehow, in his sleep, went into the past and met up with Charles Deveaux.
What I wanted to happen: Refer back to it in the end somehow, because I get the feeling that that'll be explained in season 2, but not many others caught that.
What happened: Matt got shot. Dead or alive?
What I wanted to happen: Matt lives to make some sort of snarky quip about Sylar or being shot or something like that.
What happened: Jessica a la Candice throws the smackdown on Niki.
What I wanted to happen: Well... not that. That really didn't need to happen, but I guess it brought out the strength in Niki XD
Man, you should see the 9thwonders boards right now, it's absolutely horrendous in there.
So much debate going on XD
Well, one thing's for sure: HEROES is a controversial show among its fans!
I can't wait for Season 2 :P
Memorable Lines
Claire: The future isn't written in stone!
--
HRG: Call me Noah. (!!!)
--
Ando: You cannot take my brain!
--
Peter: I love you, Nathan.
--
Ando: Hiro?
Hiro: Hm?
Ando: ...you look badass.
Hiro: Really?!
--
Not a line, this scene was the best... Claire jumping out the window! That was HILARIOUS!!
Show us an unlikely pair.
I had to do it.
Syhindlar (sai-hind-lar) n. 1) A mash-up of Sylar and Mohinder's names. 2) The name which designates Sylar and Mohinder as a pair, romantic or otherwise.
Even though it's long past, I still can't get over how great their scenes were together. Everything was so ironic, from Sylar's pretending skills down to Mohinder's naivete. It was nail-biting, and honestly, Mohinder hadn't been that awesome since "Seven Minutes to Midnight". Woohoo!
Btw, yes, I made that image XD
It was my signature for a while on the 9thwonders boards, dedicated to the Syhindlar relationship.
Harharhar, I'm so dirty.
Sorry I haven't posted my HEROES post until... well, now, but I wanted to do something special for this episode. Not because this episode was my favorite, but I felt that I could express my thoughts so much more in an image.
Yea, that's right, I drew it.
If you can't read the captions (which I'm betting on) here's what they say:
Mohinder: Lower your gun!
HRG: I shot an old man, don't think I won't shoot a little girl!
Thompson: What'm I thinking now, Parkman?
Matt (thinking): I pee'd.
Claire: When do I get to shoot someone!?
D.L.: Oh NO you didn't! (pulls his brain out) SHABOOYA, sucka!
Sylar: Toldja it's fun! Go on, take a bite.
D.L.: ...
Rest in Peace, Linderman and Ted.
Thompson... can go to hell. XD
spoilers, etc.
I wanted to write this when I had a picture of my wall ready to go, but I don't, and I don't want to wait too long XD
Why is my wall so special?
Because it steals brains has a little whiteboard thing on it upon which I draw a scene from the latest Heroes episode. It sort of became that way after .07%. I put other stuff on it too, but I thought it'd be a nice picture to go with the reviews. I'll put them up later.
This episode sits sort of oddly with me... it seemed very filler-ish, being the first of a three-part finale, but at the same time had some really great scenes that I absolutely adore.
Let's get some of the boring stuff over with first:
-Ted, Matt, and HRG head on over to New York to track the Walker system. Okay.
-Petrelli family is still running around and doing things. Claire misinterprets her dad's interaction with Thompson. Claire and Peter are both very dramatic. Yay family!
-DL and Jessica/Niki find out that Linderman's been tracking their lives. CREEPY!
okay, now to some of the GOLDEN parts! :D
First of all, Mohinder's interaction with Molly.
Just how adorable was that? It melted me to see Sendhil smile so much (swoon!)! And yes, after half the season of being gone, Molly Walker is back. Remember, Sylar killed her daddy and pinned her mom to the wall via TK knives? Yea. She's also the one that Matt saved by hearing her thoughts. D'aww. Mohinder gave his own blood to save her! More cute! Ah! Now he's protected from the boogieman (aka Sylar) with a little crayon star. I think I just died of the cute.
And we mustn't forget about Hiro and Ando...
I really loved their plotline in this episode. Hiro cares enough about Ando to (try to) kill Sylar! Aww. More cute more cute. Poor Hiro's morals are being tossed around like a hot potato.
Can't go without mentioning Sylar's part in all this, though.
It truly is a totally new side of him we've neeever seen before. So his MOM is to blame for all that being-special crap! It looks like Gabriel took pressure from both fronts... his mom urging him to be something special and his dad grounding him to the watch shop (if you recall, in 'Six Months Ago', Gabriel tells Chandra that his father gave him no other choice and that it was "so futile"). Sylar's a little mama's boy.
I think my favorite part of Sylar-and-mom's story was when he was at her bedroom door begging her to come out and apologizing for scaring her (snowglobe house!!). When he slid down the door and started banging his head against it calling for mom, it was just... so real to me. Such a thing that would happen. And the fact that they were cutting between him and Hiro/Ando made it all the better, it gave a sort of voyeuristic feel to the scene being played out. Awesome.
I HAVE to give props to the people who wrote the music for this ep: incredible.
First of all, playing Mohinder's theme (the three-note thing) with bells when he's with Molly was a nice touch.
Secondly, Sylar's mom's theme (or so it seemed) was incredible... it was so nostalgic and surreal, like a music box tune (a snowglobe music box, to be sure!).
Lastly and my most favorite was when Micah was trying to escape from Candice. HILARIOUS! The cartoon is rolling in the background, and every time Candice dupes him into the same room, you can hear Woody Woodpecker say, "Uh oh!" and "I'll blow ya to bits!" XDD Clever, clever!
I realize that this entry is a lot... well, tamer than previous ones XD I felt like I just had to go all out with the detail. I loved this episode for its details and intricacies that made the scenes oh-so-gorgeous.
OH!
I have to mention two things about Sylar that I toootally called:
1. His mom is religious. Makes sense. "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned"? Remember?
2. He kills his mom. It was a total accident, though. Didn't see that one coming.
okay, I think I'm done now.
Now time for some memorable quotes!
(I was gonna mention this scene as being one of the best, but I thought it'd go better here. But yes, it's still one of the best scenes in the episode.)
Claire: You can fly?!
Nathan: ...(shrugs)
Claire: ...that's cool (sheepish smile)
--
Molly: He sees into your soul and eats your brain.
--
Claire: My destiny is not to shoot you, the universe can't be that lame.
--
Nathan: You're planning to blow up half the city!!
Thompson: (smiles) Yes we are!
--
Hiro: I can't kill a man who is asking for forgiveness. It is not the Bushido code.
--
Sylar: Mom you're not even listening to me!
Sylar's Mom: Of course I'm listening to you!!
Sylar: No. You're making a tuna sandwich.
As with the rest of my episode reviews, major spoilers!
Okay.
Let me just get it out there that this is probably my most favorite episode of the entire season. I know, I haven't actually seen the entire season yet, but that's how good 'Five Years Gone' was.
It truly was a trip into a dark, post-explosion future: where superpowered rebels run rampant in a world that shuns then and regards them as terrorists (because a special person is what exploded New York).
Future Hiro believes Sylar is the one who exploded. It was really Peter even in this timeline, but Sylar was the scapegoat.
And speaking of Sylar... yes! My theory was correct, I totally called it. Sylar took Candice's power and used it to impersonate President Nathan. Why else would he be so... close with Mohinder, eh? Hehehe. Sorry, shipper moment there.
My hat's off to you, Adrian Pasdar, you played an excellent Sylar in this episode!
As I watched the episode, I kept my theory in mind, positive that it was true. That's why when I heard these lines, I literally got chills:
"I know how things work."
(Nathan referring to his act of genocide)
"I want Suresh to do it."
("It" being "kill past-Hiro)
"I'm the most special person there is."
(While speaking to Claire)
And the monologue that follows, followed by the popping of poor Claire's top.
By the way, Mohinder is definitely a hero in this episode!
I was getting so sick of the fact that he lets himself be pushed into things taht go against his beliefs—Presidential Advisor or no, stand up for yourself, man! And he did. He did, Mohinder came through and punctured the Haitian at the end, allowing for past-Hiro's narrow escaped. He even held the door for him, aww. And he apologized before killing the Haitian XD Way to go!
The Peter-Sylar fight was... well, there, but we didn't see it.
The camera wanted to see Mohinder struggle with the door and Hiro struck by his own (future death).
Way to leave us hanging!!
Sylar went all ice and Peter went all fire!! Damn, that was cool.
I thought Bad-Cop Matt and Secret Agent HRG were cool too :D Too bad HRG DIES :[ I liked him. And the Haitian too! When Mohinder pwn'd him, I was mixed between, "YES MOHINDER!!" and "Nooo Haitian!" And I guess Niki is Niki is Niki now! Er... then! Quite scary, seeing that they are actually starting to blend in present times.
Ah... that was one satisfying episode, kind of!
( I wanted to see at least a bit of fight between Sylar and Peter D: )
And now for some memorable quotes!
Hiro: I look upset.
Ando: Go talk to yourself.
Hiro: No way! I scare me, you do it.
--
Nathan: Brother versus brother... it's almost biblical.
Peter: My brother can't walk through walls! Who are you?
(Illusion vanishes and Nathan turns back into Sylar)
Sylar: An old friend... the guy they blamed for blowing New York. But you and I know the real history, don't we Pete?
--
Sylar: I've waited a long time for this.
Claire: Sylar...
--
Past-Hiro: Future me!!
--
HRG: My daughter's getting married.
Matt: Mazel tov... I think.
--
and this one's probably my most favorite of the whole episode:
Mohinder: You're one of them, Nathan. Am I supposed to walk you off to the gas chamber as well?
Nathan: Let's be honest, Mohinder... I can fly. I'm hardly dangerous.
More Mohinder's line than Nathylar's, but you get the picture.
PS: Oh Hiro, guess what?! SYLAR IS NOT THE BOMB! Peter is! Oh no, now what're you going to do?
Finally! After a five-week-long break, HEROES has returned!
And my, what a return it was.
[WARNING! This post contains spoilers.]
Though nothing especially grand happened, it did much to move the plot along. A lot of people over on 9thwonders are complaining that it was too hyped up and too much of a disappointment, but you have to remember that this is the beginning of the events to come. A show like Heroes will inevitably have its high and low points for the sake of plot and character development--anything more or less than that would just become stale and overwhelming.
Anyway, wow!
Things happened!
Jessica? Niki? Who is who is who now? Either way, Candice is—and I have to say it—a total bitch. Stop taking the children away from their mommies and daddies. I have a feeling Candice will die(*) because she has such a strong power... remember Eden?
Matt, Ted, and HRG: the new superteam! But my, Matt and Ted seem to have switched personalities. "Let's bring the fight to them"? Hold your horses, copper!
Personally, I loved the Petrelli storyline. Mama Petrelli is quicky becoming one of my favorite characters. I can see the family resemblance between her and Claire--"You get that mouth from me."
I absolutely loved Nathan in this episode, all this lines were great and I loved how he showed emotion for the fallen Peter and his newfound Claire. Applause, applause!
Also, Linderman has healing powers?!
No surprise to those of us who follow the online comic.
Austin reporting!
PMS—Peter, Mohinder, Sylar, that is—was kind of a let down. I wanted the fight to be longer, but I know it probably will be much later. Mohinder + map = awesome! I raise my glass to you, hardy har har.
I know, I know... Mohinder made two more blunders: 1) Not killing Sylar, and 2) Turning to Primatech. But I can justify!
1) If you recall from 'Parasite', Sylar mentioned that Mohinder had been driving "all night". He's tired. Not only that, but he just found out that Zane is Sylar, was beaten up and pinned to the ceiling, witnessed Peter's murder, and totally had his adorable teacup ruined. The man's been through a lot, it makes sense that the most he could do is shove the map in his face XD
2) The Petrellis probably hate him now, he has no Eden, he doesn't know anybody else, and Sylar is on the damn lose. Primatech seemed to be a reasonable choice. Poor Mohinder.
R.I.P. Mistah Eesock... you will be missed! :[
I give him an 8.3 on the Dramatic Death scale.
(Eden still has top spot)
You know what, though? I really really liked Sylar's rendition of Nathan-in-White House. It was very twisted and disturbing, matched his personality.
And last but not least our Hiroic duo... when we last saw them, they teleported five years into the future to a dark and desolate New York. And Hiro finds himself.
Theory
And this is where I refer back to my asterisk up there (*): I'm speculating that in some future Sylar will steal Candice's power and pose as President Nathan. Watch the episode 20 preview, 'Five Years Gone'. Notice how Nathan says, "I'm the most special person there is." How Sylar is that? The video I put up here is the U.S. trailer, but here is a link to the Canadian promo... notice the Sylar part. Sylar is standing in front of brown-haired Claire in the same place she was just seen with Nathan, saying... "I've waited a long time for this."
...aaaahhh!
Okay, I've thought about it some more, and I've come to another realization... if Sylar is impersonating Nathan, he could also be the one behind the genocide. In the promos, Mohinder tells Nathan that "genocide is not the answer." At first, I thought okay, maybe Nathan would be willing to do that... but with so many people he cares about being special including himself, I highly doubt he'll go through with it. Also in the Canadian promo you hear him say, "It wouldn't be the first species to be exterminated for the preservation of another." That's evolution talk: something we've heard from Sylar several times (evolutionary imperative, etc). It would make sense: Sylar impersonating somebody, using Mohinder to help him kill specials so he can take their powers.
Hm... sound familiar?
And now, some memorable quotes:
Sylar: Interesting, I can't wait to try that one...
-
Peter: What do you do with something that killed you?
Nathan: Put it under your pillow.
-
Nathan: I know this man.
Linderman: Great, if you see him, tell him I want my sword back!
-
Bennet: Maybe I'm exactly where I want to be
Thompson: ...you're on death row.
-
Sylar: No no... I'm not finished with you yet.
-
Nathan: You must bring all your first dates here.
-
Sylar: This is usually the part where people start screaming.
I'm sooo bad at updating, hahaha.
I don't even update my paper journal (which I haven't in like, 6 months or so anyway).
School's almost out... a little over a month and I'm DONE!
I know what the Spring fever is... feeling lazy just coz I'm used to college... gotta, gotta shake this off! Yikes!
I'm spending a lot more of my time on 9thwonders, the official/unofficial Heroes fansite.
ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL HEROES AIRS AGAIN
I've gotten so many of my friends into it recently, now they can't wait either! Wahoo!
Hm, what else does my life consist of...
ah, yes! Art!
I have no class yet. Am still practicing life drawings. I can do it pretty well when I'm in the mood, but when I'm not, I get all overanalytical and sheetz. Which sucks. I do do (heheheheh doo-doo) Heroes fanart, and Heroes fanfiction.
THAT'S RIGHT, FANFICTION, GO AHEAD AND LAUGH
I haven't done fanfiction since... oh what, 8th grade? Back when I was your typical angstyfreshteeeenager. It was Invader ZIM fanfiction and Yu-Gi-Oh. Oh man, I get chills just remembering it.
But seriously, I've gotten a lot of great reviews on my latest one, Awakenings. It's a story about Sylar getting Niki/Jessica's brain and gaining an alter-ego of his own... and it's not Gabriel! Gasp!
Hopefully that kind of exercises my writing skills for when I get back to writing story with Brent (who is taking his time writing his part). That part's aaaalmost finished.
And capoeira.
Aaaahh, capoeira... I love you so. And yet, I've been feeling really just bleeeegh when I go to classes. Back to my old self: I don't wanna play, I'm afraid I'll mess up, I'm thinking too much, nothing's coming to me, etc etc etc. Hopefully This feeling goes away by the time batizado rolls around (May 12). Aaaaayyyeeeeiiiii...
I'm giving a speech on capoeira tomorrow, I just realized XD
I'm done for now, when I remember how to blog nicely, I'll do another.
OH OH OH !
I went to a small zoo recently and saw something called a Sandhill Crane, and the name totally reminded me of Sendhil Ramamurthy (Sandhill... Sendhil... get it?!). I didn't let anybody know about that though. Ssshh.
What is your current obsession(s)?
Submitted by eijsr.
Please. XD
Somehow, I feel like I've answered this before...
but here it is anyway:
Muse, new music (thankyouthankyouthankyou Alban!!), and Heroes.
Avatar's kind of taken the backseat until season three starts in OH MY GOD LIKE TWO WEEKS
Asdkfnsakacvlsdkjrsf!
Btw, screencap from the preview for next week's Heroes episode.
Who KNOWS what Mohinder will do to Sylar?
...is it Monday yet? :[
Matthew Bellamy from Muse.
What can I say?
I love this man; he's gorgeous and sings
like an angel (from HEEELLLL just kidding XD).
I love it when guys can sing high like him.
Other high male singers: anybody's who's ever played the Phantom of the Opera, Freddie Mercury, Gackt (of JPOP fame). Delicious.
Everybody, meet Mohinder Suresh, my new celebrity crush! :P
He's a character on the (besteverevereverever) show on television, Heroes, played by actor Sendhil Ramamurthy. Yes, he's Indian :3
You can't just look at him and
tell me he's not gorgeous! XD
So while ya'll are busy fangirling over Justin Timberlake, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, I'll be over here with mah Heroes n' whatnots. :]
Of Kat's hand + my foot.
Isn't it beautiful? :P
I've really been working on what anatomy I can.
So far that means feet and hands.
I'd like to draw a full body one,
but I doubt anybody will want to pose in their
underwear for me for an hour and a half :P
...however, if you want to, I mean, nobody's stopping you. XD
